Non-enzymatic Glucose Meter developed at TMU

The researchers of Materials Engineering Department of TMU managed to design and develop a complete kit of non-enzymatic glucose sensor (glucose meter). The newly-developed kit enjoys a high accuracy and is comparable with existing commercial models in the market.

These sensors due to their high ampermetric flow are more sensitive than their enzymatic counterparts. The possibility of testing glucoses by saliva or tear is an advantage of such sensors, which currently the research on their development is underway.

Dr. Kiadeh, assistant professor of nano department, supervises this project which has been ordered by Modern Plans Office of Industry, Mines and Commerce Ministry.

It is worth to mention here that the import of glucose sensors in 2015 amounted to more than 700 billion Rials.
